Suns Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

For the second straight week, the Suns come home for a Saturday game trying to salvage a split after putting up a half-hearted effort on the road.

Last week, it was a 38-point beat-down in Portland in which the Suns failed to put forth the kind of effort coach Alvin Gentry expects, no matter the opponent or situation. Eight decent minutes to start the game, and that was it.

The Suns’ starters had Phoenix down by 10 after one period. By halftime, it was 20. Gentry had seen enough by then, playing out the string with his reserves in a 99-81 loss on the hope that his team will put forth a better effort…

Steve Nash made Phoenix Suns history for his ability to put his teammates in position to score. Yet it was Nash’s ability to hit his own shots that sank the hapless New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night. “I guess it’s very ironic,” said Nash, who scored a season high 30 points to go with 10 assists in the Suns 120-103 victory over New Orleans.
