Utah Jazz President Randy Rigby Sends a Message to Fans
Following the recent announcement that the NBA will postpone training camps and cancel preseason games due to the lockout, Utah Jazz President Randy Rigby posted a message to Jazz fans on the team’s official website.
Up until this point, the Utah Jazz have stayed relatively quiet about things regarding the lockout. Other than some news about what players are doing to pass the time, they have not been very vocal on this issue, and it came as a bit of a surprise that this was posted and emailed out to fans.
This is the text of his message:
We appreciate your continued patience as the NBA and the NBA Players Association negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement. Since no such agreement has been reached at this time, the league has postponed player training camps and cancelled preseason games scheduled through October 15, 2011.
Please know that you are a vital part of the Utah Jazz, and we value your support.
We want to assure you that the league’s efforts are focused on reaching an agreement that benefits all parties involved. The NBA’s goal is to secure a sustainable business model that enables all 30 teams to compete for a championship, fairly compensates players, and ensures a world-class experience for our fans.
We recognize that without our fans, there would be no NBA. Your passion for the game is what motivates us, and we do not take your support for granted. The league will continue to work toward a new collective bargaining agreement so that we can get back to enjoying the excitement of NBA basketball.

Thank you again for your support and your continued loyalty to the Utah Jazz.
Sincerely,Randy Rigby
President, Utah Jazz
So what are your thoughts, Jazz fans? What do you take from this letter?
Is this just a standard letter to try to keep fan support? Does it show a bigger problem, or a sense of panic? Does this type of letter make you feel more or less confident about the state of the NBA?
What do you think about this and the lockout in general?
Leave me your thoughts, and let’s get a good discussion going.

Muhammad Ali Sends Dirk Nowitzki Boxing Glove That Says ‘You are the Greatest’ After Mavericks’ Championship Win
Muhammad Ali told the world during his boxing career that he was the greatest. But now he’s apparently handed that honor over to a new champion — Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks. Nowitzki said that Ali sent him a boxing glove with the inscription, “You are the Greatest,” upon the Mavericks’ NBA Finals win, according to the German weekly magazine Spiegel. Nowitzki, who was named the MVP of the Finals, said that he was happy to receive the gift and that he returned the favor by sending Ali a golden basketball with a similar inscription. The Dallas Mavericks defeated…

During last night’s Game 5 matchup against the pesky Denver Nuggets , the Oklahoma City Thunder walked away with a 100-97 victory behind Kevin Durant’s brilliant 41 pt performance. Ohio State Dominates Wisconsin: Sends Message to the Rest of College Basketball
Ohio State didn’t just beat the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday.
They essentially shouted at the rest of the college basketball world: “Watch out!”
The Buckeyes couldn’t have played much better than they did, beating Wisconsin at home 93-65.
Jon Diebler had his own Senior Day celebration.
He hit seven-of-eight three-pointers to lead OSU by scoring 27 points. Diebler hit 10 shots behind the arc, a Big Ten record, in a win at Penn State on Tuesday night.
Diebler is 17 of 20 on 3-pointers in his last two games. Unconscious.
But Diebler wasn’t the only Buckeye that was hitting from downtown.
Ohio State (29-2, 16-2 Big Ten) set an NCAA Division I records by making 14 of 15 3-pointers (93.3 percent) and hitting 14 in a row — after missing the first. Wow!
Three-pointers weren’t the only shots that the Buckeyes were hitting. They were also an astounding 32-for-47 overall from the field (68.1 percent).
Normally, the Badgers pressure their opponents into careless turnovers.
The Buckeyes only turned the ball over seven times.
Jared Sullinger turned in a “quiet” 22 point, eight rebound performance.
William Buford was a perfect three-for-three from three-point range, and he added 18 points.
David Lighty was perfect (two-for-two) on his 3′s, and he put up an additional 13 points.
Ohio State plays the winner of the Northwestern vs. Minnesota matchup.
Even if Ohio State gets knocked off early in the Big Ten tournament this week in Indianapolis, they will still most likely be a No. 1 seed come Selection Sunday.
Looking for a dominant team going into the Tournament? Start looking in Columbus, Ohio.

Derrick Rose Sends Chicago Bulls to Overtime Victory Against Houston Rockets
The Bulls were down by three points to the Houston Rockets in the closing seconds of Saturday night’s game at the United Center.
Derrick Rose was visibly frustrated by prior no-calls that did not go his way and took the ball down the floor and drilled the game-tying three-pointer as time in regulation expired.
He went on to score the key baskets in overtime in the Bulls 119-116 victory over Luis Scola, Brad Miller and the Rockets.
Rose was simply outstanding. He managed to score 30 points on 13-of-28 shooting despite not attempting a single free throw. It was a spectacular offensive virage from the Bulls’ 22-year-old point guard.
He has upped his three-point percentage this season to 35.7 percent after a 4-of-6 shooting game from beyond the arch on Saturday night.
To add to the fun, Carlos Boozer came through with a break-out performance for Chicago. He had a 25-point and nine-rebound effort and showed off some nice post moves down low.
Boozer scored the first six points of the contest for Chicago and was the only Bulls’ starter with whom the team outscored the Rockets while on the floor (plus-2 points differential).
It was a shaky second half on the defensive end. Rose was thankfully able to bail them out down-the-stretch, but the team allowed Houston to score 65 points in the third and fourth periods.
Former Bull Brad Miller hit 4-of-9 three-point field goals and ultimately forced Joakim Noah into fouling out of the game.
There was no answer for Luis Scola either, who went off for 27 points, but Houston came unglued crashing the boards.
Chicago managed to turn around the rebounding woes, over the past two games, by defeating Houston 49-37 under the glass.
It was an ugly win in many ways, but it was indeed a victory. Rose is proving to all of his critics that he is a true Most Valuable Player Award candidate. He may soon be the best guard in the league—that is, if he is not already.
He is showing some offensive skills that are unmatched. He now has a long-range attack to complement his speed, strength, and finishing ability.
Kyle Lowry has fallen victim to the Bulls’ phenom point guard twice this season as Rose now looks ahead to Monday night to take on Russell Westbrook head-to-head in a battle against the Thunder at the United Center.
He and the Bulls will look to avenge their opening night loss at 7 p.m. CT on CSN Chicago.
