Kendrick Perkins Loses 32 Pounds, Shows Up to Thunder Training Camp Looking Slim (Photo)

Kendrick Perkins, at 6-foot-10, is a tall guy. But after shedding some weight this offseason, he’s suddenly a very slim guy, as well. Perkins showed up to Thunder training camp looking much lighter than the 280 pounds he’s listed at. According to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s official Twitter page, the 27-year-old big man lost 32 pounds. “I feel 100 percent right now, but gonna take it one day at a time,” Perkins said. The former Celtic was, of course, dealt to the Thunder prior to last season’s trade deadline along with Nate Robinson for Jeff Green, Nenad Krstic, a 2012…

NBA Rumors: Eddy Curry Down 50 Pounds from March, Now Weighs 300

Eddy Curry is getting serious about winning a roster spot on the Miami Heat next season if he keeps up his current conditioning program.

After Curry tried out for the Miami Heat last season back in March, Pat Riley told him that he’d have to lose at least 50 lbs before the club could get serious about potentially expressing interest in bringing him aboard.

It appears as if Curry is determined to help the team that has had a renewed interest in him over the last few seasons. Despite being severely overweight for the last few seasons and having eaten himself out of the NBA, Curry has his weight down to 300 lbs after working with esteemed trainer Tim Grover and isn’t quite done yet.

According to the Miami Herald, who spoke directly with Grover, Curry’s skills “are there, no doubt”, but he’s going to need to lose an additional 12 lbs or so before the Heat would offer him a contract for the veteran’s minimum.

The Heat’s problems in the middle have been well-documented since they formed their big three, and Curry could be an intriguing part of the solution if he proves to actually be in shape for the first time in a long while.

Curry was the fourth overall selection back in 2001, and as recently as the 2006-07 season, the center averaged 19.5 points per game for the New York Knicks.

It will be really interesting to see if Curry can complete the task and be able to make a comeback, and considering that he’s already lost 50 lbs to date, it would be tough to question his motivation at this point.

He would be an unorthodox solution to say the very least, but Riley has shown an ability to harness talent throughout his tenure in the league, so if Curry can get back to a respectable playing weight, it’s very possible that he could help the Heat in the not so distant future.

Eddy Curry down to 300 pounds

Free agent center Eddy Curry, whose appearance the last several years was as bloated as his contract, is down to 300 pounds, the Miami Herald reported Sunday night.
Curry has lost 28 pounds this summer, noted trainer Tim Grover told the newspaper. Grover runs the Attack Athletics training facility in Chicago used by many NBA players.
The report said Curry weighed 350 pounds in March, when the Miami Heat expressed some interest in him but asked him to lose at least 40 pounds. The Heat are looking for a low-post center to play with superstar perimeter players LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
The 7-foot Curry, 28, has played just 10 games in the last three seasons due to injuries and weight issues. He is a free agent and has averaged 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 511 career games.

Purdue pounds Michigan in Big Ten opener (AP)

For 10 minutes Tuesday, Purdue didn’t look anything like the No. 12 team in the country. It turned out to be a fluke. After jumping out to an early 19-3 lead over Michigan, the Boilermakers struggled, allowing the Wolverines to charge back for a 26-25 advantage late in the first half. Morning Walkthrough: Paul Pierce lost five pounds this summer

The Morning Walkthrough is a set of links to Boston Celtics articles throughout the internet, designed to get your day started the right way.Slim.Mark Murphy, Boston Herald – “Paul Pierce started FitClub34 as a public service to encourage children to exercise. Perhaps he didn’t know it at the time, but it became a personal initiative as well. An athlete who sets himself up as a spokesman for fitness can’t then go to seed. It wouldn’t have been kosher for the Celtics [team stats] captain, in the wake of last June’s Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, to go home, get married, sign a new deal and spend the next two months at a luau. Instead, Pierce went home, got married, signed and lost five pounds. ‘I’ve got to lead by example, right? I can’t tell people to eat right and exercise and train and I don’t do it,’ he said. ‘It’s all a part of me and what I do in the lifestyle.’ … ‘I’d say I’m a week away, truthfully,’ he said. &#…
