Chris Bosh is no longer a Raptor, but it’s quite possible he will have a huge impact on the future of the club.

Most would presume that’s not a good thing. Losing the franchise’s all-time leading scorer rarely is.

But the Raptors received a $14.6 million trade exception in the sign-and-trade agreement that allowed Bosh to get a six-year deal in Miami. Now GM Bryan Colangelo has a year to make use of it.

Trade exceptions allow teams to acquire talent without giving up players in return. The Raptors now have the ability to acquire a player whose 2010-11 contract is worth $14.6 million or less simply by dealing the other club all or part of their trade exception.

The Raptors also received a $2.7 million trade exception in the Hedo Turkoglu deal with Phoenix.

Rockets send C Andersen to Toronto for draft pick (AP)

The Houston Rockets have traded center David Andersen to Toronto for cash and a future second-round draft pick. The 6-foot-11 Australian averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 63 games last season, his first in the NBA. Andersen helped fill the void for Houston while Yao Ming sat out last season with a foot injury.
