The Trail Blazers thought they wanted a general manager with experience on the job. Then they met Rich Cho.

Cho had everything else team officials were looking for, president Larry Miller said.

After interviewing with Miller in Las Vegas, Cho flew to Finland to meet with owner Paul Allen on his yacht. After a three-hour meeting there, Cho—assistant general manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder—was offered the job.

Everyone describes Cho’s people skills as a huge asset. He comes across as understated, easy-going and someone who thinks before he opens his mouth.

“I try to be a straight shooter,” said Cho, 44. “Whether it’s with employees or upper management, I try to be myself and to be honest.

Blazers add Bickerstaff, others to coaching staff (AP)

Longtime coaching veteran Bernie Bickerstaff has been named an assistant on Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan's staff. McMillan also named Bob Ociepka and former Blazer Buck Williams as assistants. Bickerstaff's coaching career started in 1973 and has included stints as a head coach in Seattle, Denver, Washington and Charlotte.
