The Hornets completed the youth movement within their basketball operations leadership when they hired Spurs vice president of basketball operations Dell Demps to be their general manager.

The hiring of Demps, 40, came on the heels of the organization hiring 38-year-old Trail Blazers assistant Monty Williams to be their head coach. Demps replaced Jeff Bower, who was released in early July. Williams, too, had replaced Bower, who had been head coach for the final 73 games last season after Byron Scott was fired.

Hornets president Hugh Weber called Demps “a rising star,” which was reminiscent of the way the organization referred to Williams when he was hired.
