On Friday, Feb. 3, free agent forward Kenyon Martin agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. With the decision, the Los Angeles Lakers and several other teams are left looking elsewhere for help on the front line.

The Clippers added another veteran presence Friday when they signed forward Kenyon Martin.
“Kenyon is the ultimate competitor and a key acquisition,” said vice president of basketball operations Neil Olshey in a press release. “We expect that he will provide additional experience, passion and professionalism, as well as some important depth to our front court.”
The free agent forward who bought himself out of his deal with a Chinese Basketball League team in December, will earn the team’s mini-mid-level exception of $2.5 million, according to ESPNLA.com.
Martin had been cleared for an NBA return by FIBA earlier this week, though Yahoo! Sports reported there had been some contention by Chinese basketball officials.

The Los Angeles Clippers and free agent Kenyon Martin have agreed to a one-year deal, returning the veteran forward to the NBA after a brief stint in China. Martin’s agent, Andy Miller, confirmed Friday that the sides reached agreement. The deal, believed to be worth the mini mid-level exception of $2.5 million, is expected to be finalized as soon as Martin passes a physical.
