Dallas Mavericks at Cleveland Cavaliers: A Fan’s Preview (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks will face off at Quicken Loans Arena at 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 4, 2012. The Cavaliers enter the matchup with an 8-13 record and hold the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Cavaliers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Guard Kyrie Irving might not be the only player who’ll be getting postseason hardware.
Irving appears to be the favorite to be the NBA’s Rookie of the Year. If he continues to play at his current level, he could make a mockery of the race.
If one listens to coach Byron Scott, the Cavs could be in line for two postseason awards. Guard-forward Alonzo Gee appears to be a legitimate candidate for Most Improved Player.
Last year, many wondered if Gee was even an NBA player. When he arrived from the D-League last year, one could see that he was overly athletic and could jump out of the gym. But he had some major flaws to his game. He couldn’t make an outside shot and his ball handling was extremely lacking.
Friday’s National Basketball Association Capsules (PA SportsTicker)
Andrew Bynum scored 22 points, Kobe Bryant added 20 and the Los Angeles Lakers opened a season-high six-game trip with a 93-89 win over the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.
Howard’s big night leads Magic past Cavs 102-94 (AP)
Predicting which Orlando Magic team shows up from night to night has been a daily guessing game. A recent season-high four-game losing streak was plagued with turnovers, inconsistent play on defense and stale offense. Since then, the Magic have dug out of the muck, earning their second straight victory, 102-94 over the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night.
Orlando Magic Holds Off Cleveland Cavaliers’ Late Surge 102-94: A Fan’s Reaction (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
If the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to play just the fourth quarter in basketball games, I am willing to bet their record would be much better than the 8-13 they currently post. On Friday February 3, the Cavaliers fell to the Orlando Magic by the score of 102-94 despite…

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly inquired about free agent Gilbert Arenas, according to head coach Mike Brown. “We’ve made a call on (him), yes,” Brown told reporters. “We’ve called to see what his status is.
Cavaliers recall F Harangody (AP)
The Cleveland Cavaliers have recalled forward Luke Harangody from Canton, the team’s NBA Development League team. Harangody was assigned to the Charge on Jan. 26. He played in three games, averaging 13.3 points and 8.7 rebounds. The 6-foot-8 forward recorded two double-doubles and had a 21-point, 11-rebound against the Los Angeles Defenders last week.
Celtics survive Cavs’ comeback 93-90 (AP)
The Boston Celtics didn’t completely collapse. They merely crumbled this time. Two days after blowing a big late lead and losing at home to Cleveland, the Celtics nearly did it again before recovering and hanging on for a 93-90 win over the scrappy Cavaliers, who trimmed a 22-point deficit to 2 in the final minutes.
Boston Celtics 93, Cleveland Cavaliers 90 (Yahoo! Sports)
After their heart-stopping victory in Boston on Sunday, the Cavaliers figured the Celtics would be ready to rumble on Tuesday. They Celtics ventured into Quicken Loans Arena and totally outplayed the upstart Cavs for three quarters.
