Bobcats Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Bobcats are careening toward the worst record in the NBA, but that doesn’t guarantee the top pick in the 2012 draft. Under rules of the draft lottery, the worst team is guaranteed no worse than the fourth pick.

In seven previous NBA drafts, the Bobcats’ highest picks have been second (Emeka Okafor, via trade with the Clippers in 2005) and third (Adam Morrison). Okafor was a solid center who was eventually traded to the Hornets. Morrison was a complete bust who is no longer in the NBA.

The Bobcats haven’t been great drafters. They had another bust in Sean May and some limited success with players such as Raymond Felton, D.J. Augustin and Gerald Henderson.

Somewhat of a concern, should the Bobcats have a high pick in 2012, is that draft figures to be power…

AP Source: Bobcats’ Henderson to miss 2-4 weeks (AP)

A person familiar with the situation says Bobcats guard/forward Gerald Henderson will miss two-to-four weeks with a strained right hamstring. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Thursday because the team has not publicly announced the injury. It’s the same injury that has sidelined Bobcats forward Corey Maggette for the last 15 games.

Struggling Bobcats say patience key to the future (AP)

It’s hard to imagine things looking any bleaker for the Bobcats. They’ve lost 10 straight games, have the NBA’s worst record and are coming off a 44-point drubbing Wednesday night at Portland, the worst loss in franchise history. That’s why Charlotte director of basketball operations Rod Higgins said now, more than ever, the Bobcats need to exercise patience.

Blazers hand Bobcats 10th straight loss, 112-68 (AP)

Charlotte guard Gerald Henderson said that there wasn’t much the Bobcats could do while suffering the worst defeat in franchise history. The Portland Trail Blazers led by as many as 48 points and went on to beat the Bobcats 112-68 on Wednesday night. “It gets to a point where it’s just embarassasing, and you don’t want to continue,” said Henderson, who led Charlotte with 16…

Lakers Annihilate Bobcats 106-73: Fan Reaction (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

Apparently, I was very generous in my game preview when I said the Charlotte Bobcats would score 92 points in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. In actuality, the Bobcats put up only 73 points against the Lakers at the Staples Center – 19 points shy of my predicted total.

Lakers dominate Bobcats in 106-73 win (AP)

Kobe Bryant scored 24 points, Andrew Bynum added 20, and the Los Angeles Lakers beat slumping Charlotte 106-73 Tuesday night, extending their home record to 11-2 and sending the Bobcats to their ninth consecutive defeat and 19th of the season. Bynum had 11 rebounds, while Pau Gasol had 10 points and Andrew Goudelock keyed a big night for the bench with 12 points in the Lakers’ last home game…

Bobcats encouraged by Kemba Walker’s progress (AP)

Bobcats coach Paul Silas spent the better part of a week preaching to Kemba Walker the importance of passing first, shooting second. Apparently Walker’s a pretty good listener. In just his fourth start at point guard Walker handed out 11 assists en route to his first career triple-double in Charlotte’s 102-99 loss Saturday night to the Washington Wizards.

NBA Capsules: Heat run away from Hornets 109-95 (The Canadian Press)

MIAMI – LeBron James and Dwyane Wade each scored 22 points, Mike Miller added 14 off the bench and the Miami Heat shook off a slow start to run away from the New Orleans Hornets 109-95 on Monday night.

Rookie Kemba Walker and Andre Iguodala Get Triple-Doubles on Same Night: Fan’s Take (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

On Saturday, January 28, 2012, there were only six games played in the NBA, but two players recorded triple-doubles last night. In a compacted lockout shortened 66 game season, there have not been a lot of triple-doubles so far this season.
